Despacito was a track from the year 2017 released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It became the top streamed and downloaded song worldwide within just the space of six months. The song is a mix of reggaeton and pop music came out in 2017 by singer from Puerto Rico Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee. It was the top-streamed song at the period within a span of 6 months. Billboard's Top 100 in 2015 had two songs that were mostly Spanish language, while 2016 saw four. The Despacito song was at its peak popularity in 2017 however 19 mostly Spanish songs made it into the Top 100 as well, and by 2020 there were 41 songs. After Justin Bieber's remix in two languages to Despacito (2017) popular artists began to collaborate with reggaeton musicians, such as Drake with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna with Maluma in Medellin (2019). Some reggaeton artists lamented the trend towards mainstream music in 2020. But a new group, Rauw Alejandro wanted to maintain the growth and evolution of reggaeton.
